Dante was peacefully enjoying his coffee since it was Skye’s turn to get the kids lunches ready for school. They looked at each other as they heard a giant thump and screaming upstairs. Skye gave him a look that meant he had to deal with it.
“I dealt with it last time.” Dante pouted but Skye just rolled her eyes. He was about to get up when his 3 children ran into the kitchen one after the other. They all ran to Skye and started shouting at the same time.
“I can’t understand any of you. Go yell at your Dad.” Skye shooed them away but the kids wouldn’t stop. “Dante, collect your children.”
“Kids, leave your mother alone.” Dante raised his voice which caused the kids to turn to him. He’d used the ‘Dad’ voice. “Sit down and eat breakfast.”
They all quietly sat down in their respective spots as Dante put down his phone so he could see them. Damian was the first one to raise his hand and Dante had to stop himself from smiling at how cute that was. “Yes, Damian?”
“It was all Tori’s fault the vase fell.” Damian blurted out. Tori started shouting and pointing at Lizzie and Dante took a deep breath.
“Alright. That’s enough. You’re all going to clean up that mess after you finish breakfast.” Skye placed plates of breakfast that the kids ate silently. Dante grinned at her and she rolled her eyes.
“Mommy is scary.” Lizzie muttered under her breath and Dante laughed at that.
“You don’t think Mommy is scary?” Tori asked and Dante grinned.
“ ’Course not.”
The rest of breakfast went quietly and before they left Skye handed the kids a dust pan and broom. Damian, at 10, would be in charge of making sure it was all clean.
“So you’re not scared of me, huh?” Dante smiled as his wife snuck up behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist as he washed the dishes.
“Darlin’, there’s nothing you could do to me that you haven’t done already. I ain’t afraid of you.” He noticed that as he’d gotten older his accent had gotten thicker which Skye loved apparently. Dante might have started to use it on purpose.
Skye pressed a kiss to the back of his neck, “There’s nothing I can do to scare you anymore?”
“Mm, well maybe one thing.” Dante shut off the tap and turned around to face his wife. “The only thing that would ever terrify me, Skye McQueen, is if you would take our kids and leave me.”
“You had to be so serious about it.” Skye teased but her look softened. Dante leaned down and kissed her before another thump from upstairs pulled them apart. Skye groaned, “Maybe we can leave and the kids will figure it out.”
“I hear Aruba is nice this time of year.” Skye rolled her eyes and patted his face before going to deal with their kids.
“You’re telling your Papa that the kids broke the expensive vase he bought us for our wedding.”
Dante’s smile fell at that.
